Pathologic features of focal non-suppurative interstitial nephritis in buffaloes

Microscopic examination of the kidneys of 68 buffalo calves revealed focal non-suppurative interstitial nephritis in 15. Mononuclear cells were present in most cases, and in a few cases there were also giant cells. Spirochaetes were demonstrated in the kidneys of two animals without lesions, but no organisms were seen in kidneys showing interstitial nephritis.
