One to 3 treatments with 4 to 7 mg. fenthion per lb. body-weight, given subcutaneously at 2-weekly intervals, eliminated microfilariae from dogs infected with Dirofilaria immitis. The dogs had been previously treated with thiacetarsamide sodium. As the thiacetarsamide sodium eliminates the adult worms, and the fenthion the microfilariae, the combination of the 2 drugs allows for complete control of the disease.
