Thirty-eight patients with vaginal candidosis participated in a double-blind study comparing the therapeutic efficacy of a single 500 mg clotrimazole vaginal tablet with that of 2 100 mg vaginal tablets inserted once daily for 3 days. Four weeks after completion of treatment, 89% of the patients in the single dose group were clinically and mycologically cured compared with 76% of the patients after the 3-day regimen. No significant difference in the cure rate between the 2 treatments could be shown.
