The common virus vaccines produced in chicken tissues are listed. The vertically transmitted infections of the fowl are .discussed. The problems associated with the provision of infection-free avian cell substrate for vaccine production are discussed, with particular reference to the avian leucosis/ sarcoma group of viruses. The difficulties associated with the production and use of a cell-associated Marek's disease virus vaccine are presented.
