The pharmacological preparation obtained from the epyphyses, epithalamine containing polypeptides, evidently the values of water-salt and acid-alkaline balance in rats with shock caused by soft tissue crushing. The mortality among animals reduced to 1/2 and life span increased. Sodium hydroxybutyrate produced a mild positive effect on the parameters studied. The use of epithalamine as a therapeutic measure in the prevention and treatment of traumatic shock is promising.
