Capillary GLC was used to study the toxin-producing ability in 19 strains of fungi from the Fusarium Lk. ex Fr. genus of the Sporotrichiella section (F. sporotrichiella, F. sporotrichiella var. poae and F. sporotrichiella var. tricinctum). Of the strains studied, 63.2% produced mainly 2 types of toxins, T-2 and HT-2, T-2-toxin being formed in greater amounts. F. sporotrichiella var. poae strains were the most active. These strains and others also produced trace amounts of other mycotoxins such as neosolaniol, acetylneosolaniol, diacetoxyskirpenol and dioxynivalenol. Isolation sources and storage time of the culture had no effect on the content of trichothecene toxins or on their quantity.
