Feline central retinal degeneration in the United Kingdom

During the past three years, routine ophthalmoscopic screening of cats seen at the Royal Veterinary College revealed central retinal degeneration in six cats, 4-8 years old. The diets of five of the cats seemed to be adequate, but the sixth was on a vegetarian diet which may have been deficient in taurine, though estimation of the taurine content of serum was not done.
