Effect of naphthalophos, phenothiazine, and thiabendazole on gastrointestinal nematode egg counts in feedlot cattle

Naphthalophos administered as a drench at 50, 75 and 100 mg. per kg. body-weight to cattle naturally infected with gastro-intestinal nematodes, reduced the faecal egg count by 93 to 99%. Phenothiazine at 276 mg. per kg., and thiabendazole at 110 mg. per kg., reduced the count by 85 and 99%.respectively. Naphthalophos given in feed pellets at 22.6 and 24 mg. per kg. per day for 2 days, and at 26.9 mg. per kg. for 4 days, reduced the egg count by 66, 65 and 92%, respectively. No signs of toxicity were observed except for transient diarrhoea in a few cattle given 75 and 100 mg. per kg. D.A.Cz.
