Experience with studying the diagnosis of early changes in the cardiovascular system in patients with chronic non-specific pulmonary diseases is summarized. The use of an indirect technique for determining systolic pressure in the pulmonary artery both at rest and after functional exercise, respiratory and pharmacological tests permitted the detection of latent pulmonary hypertension. The necessity of timely diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension as the leading reason for heart injury in lung patients is also discussed.
