Subungual exostosis is a benign process of bone, often occurring after traumatic accident. The red-brown lesion, lacking in pain, can be confused, e.g., with subungual malignant melanoma of the acrolentiginous type. X-ray of the bone ensures the diagnosis. Surgery is the treatment of choice.
