Microfilariae of Wuchereria bancrofti were found in blood smears of 382 (16.7%) of 2282 persons examined from East Godhavi district of Andhra Pradesh, India. All persons were re-examined every 6 months. After 2.5 years 75 individuals were still positive and this possibly represents the minimum period of patency of a female worm in these cases [the table could not be understood, perhaps because of printing errors].
