The kallikrein-kinin system was examined in 40 patients with coronary atherosclerosis and ischemic heart disease within the interparoxysmal period. Two groups of patients were distinguished, depending on the frequency and pattern of angina pectoris attacks, as well as on the degree of exercise tolerance. Analysis of the time course of the activity of vasoactive polypeptides during the bicycle ergometry test revealed 2 types of the kallikrein-kinin system responses, allowing the determination of the compensatory possibilities of the kinin system.
