Human brains (40) were examined morphologically to observe the variability and topography of certain structures of the limbic system. Considerable variability and asymmetry were found in the cingulate gyrus and the subcallosal area. Three types of fasciolar and dentate gyrus were distinguished. In individual cases the gyri did not occur in a macrostructural form. Gyri A. Retzii were present on both hemispheres in 20 cases. No correlation between the incidence of these gyri and the size of the fasciolar gyrus was found.
