Five pest-free cultures of mushroom mycelium surrounded a culture contaminated with Caenorhabditis elegans or Cruznema lambdiensis on which 20 pupae of Lycoriella mali had been placed. In 2 of the 5 replicates of the experiments, C. lambdiensis appeared in one of the other cultures after adult flies had emerged. In all replicates Caenorhabditis appeared in from 1 to 5 of the other cultures. The higher rate of C. elegans phoresis may have been due to its swarming in the culture.
