Symptoms and treatment of the most common mushroom poisonings in the Nordic countries are discussed and the epidemiology of mushroom poisoning in Sweden is analysed. Of 140 cases of mushroom poisoning seen during 1979-81, 35 were due to Amanita virosa or A. phalloides (1 lethal) and 6 to Cortinarius speciosissimus.
