A method for the GLC determination of lidocaine in cat plasma with mepivacaine as internal standard is described. The investigations demonstrated a high reliability in the method, although the precautions required are relatively few. Under the cited conditions the plasma concentrations determined with the method after lidocaine treatment of cats were proportional to the infusion rates and obeyed a log normal distribution.
