Significant properties of the LK-Kharkov vaccinal strain of tuberculosis mycobacteria, obtained by passage of virulent Mycobacterium bovis Vallee in beef-extract-glycerin broth containing successively increasing concentrations (3-15%) of ectericide preparation, are presented. The strain has genetically determined immunologic properties, differs in lipid composition from the Vallee strain and BCG, is weakly allergenic, persists for 18-25 days after vaccination and gives strong, stable immunity to tuberculosis.
