The magician's forceps phenomenon responds to repeated forced adduction of the master eye up to 9Hz, whereas the visual movements are limited to follow 1 Hz movement of the target under any test conditions. These data indicate that the frequency response characteristics indicate the cut off frequency of the pathway, while the velocity characteristics indicate the muscle fiber involved in the movement.
