Echocardiography and the bicycle ergometry test were used to study the clinical and hemodynamic effects of .beta.-blockers, long-acting nitrates and their combinations in 125 patients with the anginous form of chronic ischemic heart disease (CIHD). These drugs used in combination may produce a more favorable clinical effect than those used alone on patients with a severe but stable course of CIHD and on hemodynamics. Combined use of these drugs may decrease side effects of each group of the drugs.
