A clinical, immunological examination of 54 patients with rheumatic heart diseases was carried out. The patients were examined before, during and after treatment with indomethacin (17 patients), heparin (19 patients) and celospor (18 patients). Indomethacin lowered the total lymphocyte count and the counts of the lymphocyte subpopulations (the T- and B-cells); heparin diminished the total population and the subpopulations of neutrophils (spontaneous and complementary cells); celospor considerably lowered the total population and the subpopulations (the T- and B-cells) of lymphocytes and produced a stimulatory effect that manifested in an increase of the count of spontaneous rosette-forming neutrophils.
