Malignant metastatic ovarian melanoma: a case report

A case of human malignant metastatic ovarian melanoma is reported. The ovarian tumor was secondary to cutaneous malignancy in the left para-umbilical region, which had also metastasized to the left breast. Histologic features revealed a fibroleiomyomatosis of the myometrium and metastasis of both ovaries from a malignant melanoma with widespread melanin pigment and extensive necrosis. The patient recovered following total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy.
