Since the first description of a case of leukemia due to occupational exposure to benzene several types of malignancies with the use of this chemical agent have been reported. These are: leukemia, malignant lymphoma, myeloid metaplasia, PNH, multiple myeloma and lung cancer. In this paper, the evidences showing the causal relationship existing between the development of these various types of malignancies and occupational exposure to benzene are discussed.
