Indication for caesarean section for multiple pregnancy

Indications for cesarean section [CS] in 213 patients with multiple pregnancy were retrospectively analyzed. The average rate of CS was 6.1%, almost identical with that of monocyesis (5.9%). Perinatal mortality, in particular that of the 2nd twin, may be reduced by expanded indication for CS to cope with malpresentation in cases of multiple pregnancy. CS is recommended as the primary approach to multiple pregnancy beyond the 34th wk with 3 or more newborns.
