Stereological characterization of lobes of the rat prostate was presented on the basis of the study of components of the glandular tissue in the light microscope. All ventral, dorsal, lateral and coagulating lobes were characterized by their specific contents of basic components of the glandular tissue. There is an explicit similarity between the ventral and the coagulating lobe expressed in high contents of the acinar parenchyma with a relatively small amount of the interacinar tissue. The similarity between the dorsal and the lateral lobe consists in a comparatively high content of the interacinar tissue with lower contents of the acinar parenchyma.
