Since 1977 the number of sample of glucose injection submitting for national certification to the Division has increased remarkably. At the end of 1977 and thereafter, computer control system of pyrogen test for national certification was examined thoroughly for saving labor and time required for the test; the computer control system was introduced in the Division for the pyrogen test in Oct. 1978. The computer control system consists of a body weight recording and body temperature measuring system, organized with personal computer, plotting typewriter, electronic balance, data logger with 30 thermistor sensors and 2 interfaces. By use of a body weight recording system, all data of animal weight, food intake, diarrhea and experimental history for 100 rabbits are stored in a mini-floppy disc and are ready for use on the pyrogen test. The body temperature measuring system is programmed along the pyrogen test procedure in the Japanese Pharmacopeia and it is capable of testing 10 samples (30 rabbits)/day. The introduction of the computer control system to the pyrogen test resulted in the labor-saving and time-saving effects on the test. In 1980, 753 samples of glucose injection and Ringer's solution were submitted to the pyrogen test and 738 samples were tested within the year by the computer control system.
