Comparison of the results of immunodiffusion (ID) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay indicated that sera doubtful to the ID test but giving confluent precipitation lines were positive to the ELISA test. Excessive numbers of doubtful ID results could be obviated by including specificity controls - strongly positive, weakly positive and negative sera and buffer solution.
