Excretory urography was evaluated as a diagnostic procedure in doves (Streptopelia risoria), Nandy conures (Nandayus nenday) and Amazon parrots (Amazona amazonica). After restraint by mechanical means (taping) or sedation (ketamine), survey radiographs were made, and sodium diatrizoate containing 300 mg iodine/ml was injected at 1.5 mg iodine/g into the brachial vein, followed by a rapid filming sequence. The aorta and pulmonary arteries were defined within 10 sec after the beginning of the injection, the kidneys and ureters 60 sec after injection, and cloaca 2 min after injection. High-detail screen-film combination is recommended.
