The concentrations of IgG, IgA and IgM were compared in faeces of normal and diarrhoeic pigs by means of a competitive enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (Elisa). The relative concentrations of faecal immunoglobulins (Ig) in normal piglets and adults differed. IgA was the most important Ig in adult faeces while IgM predominated in piglet faeces. IgG was relatively rare. No differences were detected between groups of normal and diarrhoeic piglets. In adult faeces, IgA was lower and IgG and IgM were higher in diarrhoeic than normal pigs.
