The authors discuss the advantages and disadvantages of radio-immunoassay and other methods for the detection and quantification of tetanus antitoxin in man and in animals. Having had considerable experience of the ELISA test, they recommend it for its sensitivity, reliability and simplicity in laboratory use. A detailed description of the method is given. Results obtained with ten serum samples of immunized foals, examined on four different days, demonstrated its reproducibility.
