Distribution of ureaplasmas in various laboratory animals

When swabs were examined from the conjunctiva, nasal and oral cavaties, trachea, prepuce vagina, rectum or cloaca of apparently healthy animals from 21 species, ureaplasmas were isolated from common squirrel monkey, green monkeys, cynomolgus monkeys, chimpanzee, goat, sheep, dog, cat and fowl. They were not obtained from rhesus monkey, and Japanese monkey, mouse, rat, gerbil, hamster, guinea pig, rabbit, opossum, ferret, swine or quail.
