Effect of vitamin C on the leucocyte count in immature pigeons

The effect of vitamin C on the leukocyte population was studied in immature pigeons. Some differences were found in the leukocyte counts between males and females. In male pigeons vitamin C treatment caused heterophilia and a decrease in the number of monocytes, while lymphopenia of the smaller type of lymphocyte and eosinopenia were marked in females. Vitamin C may influence the leukocyte population in juvenile pigeons.
