I.v. administration of angiotensin caused 3-fold increase in total leukocyte count without significant change in differential leukocyte count. It was associated with a decrase in the total serum protein and serum albumin level in dogs. The spleen, adrenal glands and CNS do not play any significant role in increased leukocyte count or fall in total serum protein and albumin level. This effect might be associated with an increase in the permeability of the vascular endothelium. The hyperglycemic effect of i.v. administered angiotensin was not influenced by spinal section and bilateral vagotomy. Reserpinization exerted some modification in the response. It seems probable that angiotensin inhibits insulin production and stimulates the release of catecholamines especially from the adrenal medulla which, in turn, causes hyperglycemia.
