A strain of Plasmodium falciparum from Hainan Island, China, was established in monkeys (Aotus trivirgatus griseimembra), and different anopheline mosquitoes were tested for their susceptibility to infection. Anopheles freeborni Aitken were the most susceptible followed by A. dirus Peyton & Harrison, A. stephensi List., A. maculatus Theo., A. culicifacies Giles and 2 strains of A. gambiae Giles.
