The treatment of 673 patients with acute cholecystitis aged 70 and more was analyzed. Half of the patients were treated with antibiotics. Under study were 110 antibioticograms of bile of the operated patients. In 71% Escherichia coli was found sensible to tetracycline, chloramphenicol, monomycin and kanamycin. The results of the investigation show that use of antibiotics of the tetracycline order for the treatment of acute cholecystitic results in decreased mortality of patients aged 70 and older.
