The applicability of a sandwich immunoassay using colloidal gold coated immunoglobulins, the sol particle immunoassay (SPIA), for the quantitative determination of S. mansoni circulating antigens was investigated. Lower detection levels of 10 ng soluble egg antigens/ml and 5 ng circulating anodic antigen/ml were achieved with this method.
