A haemagglutinating agent isolated in Israel in 1971 from the brain of turkeys with a respiratory syndrome accompanied by torticollis has now been identified by HI and neuraminidase inhibition tests as an influenza virus, designated A/turkey/Kfar Vitkin, Israel/71 (Hav5 N2). Strains with the same antigenic composition were isolated from turkeys in Canada in 1966 and in UK in 1973.
