In 10 horses ECG-alterations caused by preanesthetic medication with the tranquilizer Combelen (propionylpromazine) are discussed. The effects include a shorter duration of the P-wave, vectorial changes of the QRS-complex in cranial and right direction and of the T-vectorloop to the left. For the most part, the heart rate remained unchanged, with a distinct increase only in 3 horses.
