Comparison of EZ-HD and Barytgen for examination of the upper gastrointestinal tract with the double contrast technique reveals no difference in regards to the esophagus and duodenum. The EZ-HD group proved to yield a somewhat poorer coverage of the mucous membrane with unclear reproduction of mucous details and had a greater tendency to flocculate than Barytgen, presumably because of the former's higher density. A different dilution should place the contrast medium on par with Barytgen.
