A study was conducted to compare the analgesic effect of parenteral analgin and pethidine in post-operative abdminal surgery, using strict double-blind methodology. Cases (100) admitted to the K.E.M. Hospital, Bombay, India, were included in the study. Analgin (2.5 g) were comparable to 100 mg of pethidine. Analgin may be a superior analgesic in severe pain and is advantageous, as it lacks the potential of a narcotic analgesic.
