Male and femlae mice were whole-body X-rayed with a dose 2100 R rhythmic changes in the Ca level in the blood serum and renal and intestinal homogenates were studied. Material was secured in the course of 1 day at 6 h intervals at 12:00, 18:00, 24:00, 6:00 and 12:00 h. The control animals showed rhythmic changes of Ca level in the blood serum, and in the kidney and intestinal homogenates. Rhythmicity of the Ca level was distinctly changed after exposure of males and females to X-rays. Altered rhytmic phases were noted with the rhythm in control animals. In males irradiation caused significant lowering of the Ca level in the intestinal and renal homogenates, and blood serum. Hypocalcemia and an altered rhythm of changes in Ca level were probably due to impaired Ca transport in the small intestine and renal tubules in the irradiated animals.
