During 1969-97, 1215 patients were admitted for infectious disease to a hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark. Seventeen patients had acute measles encephalitis. A follow-up study in 1979 revealed severe neurological sequelae in 2 patients and moderate residual symptoms in 4.
