It has been suggested that DELTA 1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate (P5C) is an intermediate formed during the conversion of arginine to proline in the larva of Aldrichina grahami (Aldr.). Studies showed that P5C reductase and proline oxidase were localised mainly in the fat-body mitochondrial matrix and the muscle, respectively, of the larva.
