Pattern visual evoked potentials were determined in 28 patients affected by multiple sclerosis divided according to McAlpine's criteria. There was a high percentage of abnormal responses (64%) even in patients without a history of retrobulbar neuritis. New recording methods are hypothesized for a more sensitive exploration of demyelinating lesions of the visual pathways.
