Disposable ion-exchange chromatographic columns were used to determine the ALA concentrations in urine samples from 11 cows. The concentrations obtained (1.84 + 0.40 mu g/ml) were slightly higher than values previously reported (1.34 mu g/ml). This may be related to the practice in Nigeria of grazing cattle along the sides of roads.
