CSF was examined from 25 patients with occlusive stroke and 8 with hemorrhagic stroke. In occlusive stroke CSF fibrinolytic activity was increased in 40% and decreased in 28% of the patients. Fibrinogen was beyond the normal range (normal up to 5 .mu.g/ml) in 60% of patients and FDP was demonstrable in 19 patients; in normal CSF no FDP is demonstrable. In 8 cases of hemorrhagic stroke, fibrinolytic activity of CSF was increased in 3 patients and decreased in 3 others. Fibrinogen was not demonstrable in 7 of 8 patients; FDP were detected in each patient.
