The 1st isolation of Bhanja virus from H. plumbeum impressum ticks collected in 1974 in Somalia presented in the paper supplements the information on geographical distribution and vectors of this virus. Antigenically, the Somalian strain of Bhanja virus does not differ from strains isolated in Nigeria and the USSR as demonstrated by the results of cross CF tests.
