In a study of alloantigenic Ig polymorphisms in 10 inbred lines, 7 IgG and 3 IgM allotypes were detected. Each line had a unique combination of several IgG allotypes, which was presumably controlled by an allele at the a locus. Five such phenogroups were found, corresponding to the following 5 alleles; aC, in lines CA, CB and CC; aI in IA, IB and IC; aW in WA and WB; aM in line M; aF in line F. The IgM allotypes found were controlled by 3 alleles of the d locus: dC in the 3 C lines and line F; dI in the I lines and line M; dW in the 2 W lines. Recombination between the linked loci a and d was 2.8%. These Ig loci segregated independently of the blood group loci A, E, B, C, D and I in backcrosses. [For Pt. V see ABA 43, 3137].
