The hypothesis of an association between the genetic pattern of the organism, the nature of its diseases and the mode of its dying is discussed. Four variants of relationships between the genetic and environmental factors are discussed and in each of them the importance of these factors in thanatogenesis is evaluated. The genetic pattern of an organism may be the most essential cause of diseases and death in the majority of cases, except in situations in which extreme environmental factors are involved.
