Method of preserving bacterial cultures under laboratory conditions

Experimental substantiation was given for the possibility of storing bacterial cultures by cultivation on strips of filter paper placed in nutritive medium; the strips are dried at 37.degree. C and stored at room temperature, or in a refrigerator at 4.degree. C. Duration of viability was given for Escherichia coli, Shigella dysenteriae, Salmonella typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus 209, Proteus mirabilis, P. vulgaris, Bacillus cereus, B . subtilis, B. megaterium and Corynebacterium diphtheriae.
