E. coli code as an essential hemispherical-envelope-growth process which assembles spherical envelope, segregates DNA-replication products and divides cells, independently of cAMP receptor protein (CRP) regulatory complex. Superimposed on it is a cAMP-CRP complex governed horizontal-envelope-growth process for assembling side walls of the rod shaped envelopes.
